I put the glaze ingredients into a bowl right after the cake went into the oven (and covered the bowl with cling wrap), and my cake took hours to cool so it took awhile until I microwaved the glaze, but I had no problems with that it was almost melted together after the initial 30 seconds so I just microwaved for 15 seconds more and then used it.
